Ben Giddens OD, BSc

Optometrist & Founder

Dr. Ben Giddens graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1985 and opened his Georgetown practice in 1986. Later qualification included an Honours BSC, completion of a course in therapeutic management of ocular disease (Northeastern University) and Ocular Therapeutic certification by the International Board of Examiners in Optometry.

Dr. Giddens practices full scope optometry and values managing a medically-oriented practice. He appreciates being a primary eye care provider to the community and providing treatment for urgent or chronic eye disease such as glaucoma. He also values acting as your agent when referring out for a surgical consult.

On a daily basis, Dr. Giddens finds satisfaction in resolving the optical needs of his patients. Whether it is difficulty with your bifocals, your contact lenses or computer eye strain, he enjoys the challenge.

When not at work, Dr. Giddens likes cooking and seeing the Canadian outdoors, all year round. From a canoe, hiking boots, bicycle or a pair of skis, he likes to bring back stories of adventure to chat about with his patients.

Andrea Kozma OD

Optometrist

Dr. Andrea Kozma received a degree in Mechanical Engineering from McMaster University. She worked in manufacturing for a few years prior to deciding that she would rather work in health care. She then completed her Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Waterloo, and was recognized on the Dean’s Honour List in all her years of study. As part of her clinical training, she worked alongside ophthalmologists with specialties in retina, glaucoma treatment, cataract and refractive surgery.

Upon graduation, she joined the practice as an associate and is thrilled to be serving the visual needs of the Georgetown community. She enjoys all aspects of primary eye care and working with patients of all ages. She particularly appreciates the variety of patients and eye conditions that this diverse practice allows her to see. Aside from the ‘routine’ eye exams, she enjoys the added challenge of emergency referrals from the local family doctors, fitting patients with multifocal contact lenses, treating glaucoma and other eye health conditions.

Passionate about health and fitness; in her spare time, when not traveling, Dr Kozma stays active in a variety of sports such as running, rock climbing, tennis and skiing.

Stephanie Britton OD, BSc, F.A.A.O.

Optometrist

Dr. Stephanie Britton received her Doctor of Optometry and Masters in Vision Science from New England College of Optometry. Upon graduation, she completed a one-year residency in Cornea and Contact Lenses from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and Vision Science. She received her fellowship with the American Academy of Optometry in 2016. She is now working toward her fellowship with the Scleral Lens Education Society.

Dr. Britton has several published papers, posters and presented at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), Global Specialty Lens Symposium (GSLS), British Contact Lens Association (BCLA), and Netherlands Contact Lens Congress (NCC) meetings.

Dr. Britton enjoys seeing patients of all ages. She has a focus on dry eye, keratoconus, and fitting specialty contact lenses. These contact lenses include astigmatism, multifocals, rigid gas permeable lenses, scleral lenses and orthokeratology. Since her Master’s research involved the study of myopia, she has an interest in integrating myopia control and contact lenses into practise. Dr. Britton is current clinical director of TLC Laser Eye Centre Waterloo where she conducts consults for laser vision correction and cataract procedures, as well as, post-operative care and management of laser procedures and cataract surgeries.

She has volunteered in two eye care mission clinics in El Salvador and Dominican Republic and hopes to continue participating in other mission trips. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, participating in volleyball and tennis, and spending time with her family and friends.
